Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 32.9/100, a mean average of 28.2/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 28.2/100. The standard deviation for this album is 28.0.

Listening to The Big Day as a palate cleanser...
This is the greatest 90 minutes of frontline music that I've ever heard. It manages to experiment while maintaining aural integrity. The first ever 100/100 from me boys, cheers.
The same album by Kurt Cobain would have received better reviews. I did not know the misfortune to discover the critics before the album. When the three power chords of "Screwed" resonate with this nonchalance, when Kid Cudi sings his lament of damned with so little restraint, so seriously, maybe we just have to choose between thinking that It's a genius album and think it's a huge shit. The album as a whole is like nothing. It's not grunge, not hip-hop, not folk. Some days, I am really amazed by the carelessness and the singularity of the tracks, by the freedom of their structures. Other days, I find this album absolutely uninteresting, completely bizarre and without any genius. Sometimes I even feel like throwing up when I try to listen to it all. You will understand, my opinion is not decided on this album. My rating varies from 10/10 to 0/10 according to my mood (I want to say that it is more current that I find this album completely rotten, that's why I gave him the score of 0/10).
0/10 or 10/10
Best track: "Man In The Night"
Yikes, I think Kid Cudi somehow made the worst album of all time. Even Cudi know this album is terrible and total meme with that cover. I don't get it, how can Kid Cudi made really good music ( Man on the moon, Kids See ghosts) also make some of the worst music I ever heard.
This is awful, just awful

Reviewers and random people on the internet: “IT’S STUPID BECAUSE ermmm... IT’S JUST BAD”
People who actually make music (Andre 3000, Erykah Badu, Kanye West): “this is the greatest shit I’ve heard in a while”
I’m gonna be perfectly honest with ya: I have no clue why exactly this albums receives so much hate. Probably has to do something with herd mentality - maybe try listening to an album before looking at the reviews for once. Or is it because a rapper dares to touch the “holy” guitar after getting his fingers dirty from touching an auto-tuner? It is Human After All all over again. White people really have to stop to get so defensive about rock music. Did they forget it was black people who invented rock ‘n’ roll in the first place?
Anyway, the first time I played this I was like “yeah, this is not great, but why the hate?”, and after that it has grown on me.
His perfectly imperfect vocals get a completely new meaning over this production, which consists of guitar riffs that are as annoyingly hypnotizing as The Chemical Brothers’ early beats.
It always confused me as to why there were so few people that could make good grunge. I agree with Billy Corgan that he and Cobain were the only ones that made some quality grunge back in the nineties, the rest just copied Cobain or made some kind of stripped down heavy metal in the hope the audience would mistake it for grunge. And believe it or not, the only artist where I could hear the real grunge sound back is Cudi (perhaps being suicidal has something to do with it). Hell, this is the best guitar-oriented album I have heard since The Strokes. I know, it comes from a weird place at a weird time, but why not?
Isn’t it ironic by the way, that Cudi receives the exact public response Cobain wished to receive.
It so weird. I remember a lot of the reviews and the word of mouth made this album one of the worst albums of all time. But weirdly enough I enjoyed it. Now, this isn't for everyone. Hell I'm not going to go into this diatribe of how "You don't get it" type bullshit. But to me the hazy production, the animated vocals that Cudi gives off and some of the grooves off this record I like. And funnily enough, the 90 minute time-span went by surprisingly quickly. Hell maybe with multiple listens, I might love the hell out of this record.
I do also want to point out when you have to work in retail listening to pap, sometimes something like this is what you need. Listening to a record that has a fuck you type attitude with headphones.
And hell who knows, maybe in the future there will be albums that we considered "bad" will get the cult following it gets.
I once put a plastic bag over my head and waited for about an hour until I would die. This album kinda felt like that.
Albums these days are all too well-recorded. We need something that sucks once in a while just so our ears don't fall asleep and I respect Kid Cudi for having the balls to do something completely retarded.
Not all the tracks are retarded, by the way. Some of them are kind of genius. Take "The Nothing" for example. By a different artist in a different time, that song would be a classic. Unfortunately, grunge has been gone for decades, the record is way too long, and most of the songs suck, so this album's premise is just absurd.
Honestly not as horrible as I remembered, there's a couple moments on here that aren't so bad. Still by no means a good album though.
