Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 13% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 74.3/100, a mean average of 73.8/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 74.5/100. The standard deviation for this album is 20.9.

All I know is that I put this on during a middle aged dinner party/game night and got a full on thumbs down from everyone in the room. Based on those in attendance it's an automatic favorite.
This will take some getting use to. I'm not sure about ambient comparisons...sounds right...we'll see.

Drone is supposed to drag you within melody effortlessly givin a mind trip. Earth pictures the extreme sound that captured my soul into the enlightened mezmerising simulation of non thinking.

40footwolf summed it up pretty well. It's kind of like a heavy metal band listened to a Brian Eno album and went "well this is fucking boring, I bet we can liven this up a bit." and so they did and 'twas good.

Has a strange, stripped down power that can't easily be explained. It's sort of like a Brian Eno ambient album as recorded by the Melvins, except not really at all. I'm not generally into drone, but this one might win me over.
