This is probably one of the most original bands I've ever heard. No one sounds anything like them. An Awesome Wave was really good, but their follow up was not so much. Hopefully they put out a good third album.
Alt-J is fantastic by its originality, beautiful sound, atmospheric music, and great lyrics despite what people say(except maybe in RELAXER).
Their debut album is an absolute masterpiece, very underrated on this site. I like also the conceptual This Is All Yours and the controversial RELAXER, the last one receiving to much hate in my humble opinion.
They have plenty of great tracks : Dissolve Me, Fitzpleasure, 3WW, Tesselate, In Cold Blood, Every Other Freckle and the classic Breezeblocks. My favourite song is Taro. I love especially the intro and the magic sound in the chorus, but the lyrics are meaningful as well: it is about Robert Capa, a war photographer.
Alt-J is probably in my top five bands of the 2010s, but thats just an opinion ;)
Although i do like 'an awesome wave' and somewhat like 'this is all yours' im not to big of a fan. I think they have some good songs and they're albums are put together very well, but there is just something about them that i really dont like. Every time i listen to them i get a strange distant vibe that their music is to 'pop', or is headed in that direction. I thought i was right about this when i heard 'hunger of the pines' (which i hate) but there are still some good ones on their new album (Edited)

Fantastic first album from alt j. I saw them at reading festival and they were brilliant and that's what made me like them. I love the way there album flows and I hope there is more to come
