Their weakest album so far, but still has its great moments. Track 1 (Bane) is the perfect encapsulation of what's wrong with alt-J though. Some really beautiful instrumental parts like the intro, but as a whole track it's a total mess with no structure and really randomly put together. They're turning into the Heston Blumenthal of bands. Sometimes they strike gold but often you end up with banana in a cottage pie. Maybe they're trying to be too clever. Keep it simple with tracks like Get Better and U&ME which are great. Powders is also good. Could have been a great album, but as it is it's just good.
Quite a slept on album for me this year. I always commend an artist for pushing themselves and I feel that alt-J did that on this one. Virtuosic in terms of writing and production.

As we celebrate the 10 year anniversary of the all time classic ‘An Awesome Wave’ Alt-J give us a present to mark the occasion which is none other than a new album and not only that a really good new album that’s undoubtably one of the years best. Reaching into their full bag of mixed eclectic tricks ‘The Dream’ has more twists and u-turns than a Rally Car track. It’s far from perfect though with the second half labouring a tad but regardless has 2017’s ‘Relaxer’ covered and is the equal of ‘This is All Yours’

Loved the singles and their music videos! They put out some of my favorite singles of any artist so far this year so I just knew I'd love the album too. Well ok I was hoping I'd love the whole album and it didn't disappoint. Bane is a great opener and Chicago is a super cool and unexpected song. The album cover is weird lol but don't judge a book by it's cover they say haha. Easily one of my favorite albums so far in 2022. I'll pretend U&Me will be just out of site in another room listening to this album. Listened to it twice on release day and now I want to own it so I can crank it in the car.
