Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some artists can have several thousand ratings)
This artist has a Bayesian average rating of 38.4/100, a mean average of 30.1/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 30.1/100. The standard deviation for this artist is 26.3.

Better than Pearl Jam, at least. Haha this band actually rocks, better than 95% of the other hipster shit on this site.
They won a Grammy™ over RHCP, 3 Doors Down Lenny Kravitz and Matchbox 20
Pretty much a middle of the road band making middle of the road music. Honestly rather boring band to me.
I Like...i know everyone think's they are shit, but it doesn't matter...i have a soft spot for post-grunge
One of the worst bands back in the day, gah, so terrible.
Calling them a poor man's Pearl Jam is an insult to poor men.
Pearl Jam with awful lyrics and no instrumental intensity.
They definitely have a few good songs but I'm not sure if they deserve all the hate they get. Maybe if they weren't such assholes, more people would like them.
The only band I've ever seen booed off stage, and it wasn't because the lead singer was drunk or fist-fighting with the guitar player. When people rip on Nickelback, they're picturing Creed.
the lead singer tried to trick virgins and everyday sluts into believing he is Jesus. I think he deserves a bullet in his head, not so much for pretending he's Jesus, but for the songs he made.
