They're doing best when they're just being straight up brutal and heavy. In the later albums they inplement more and more melodic harmonies and try to mix it up with the heaviness resulting in total garbage. I guess some of the songs are cool but I'm not going to listen most of their stuff ever again. Slipknot have some potential but there are much better bands out there.

There's been a lot of absolute hate and absolute love towards Slipknot. I don't know what to say, they aren't bad at all though. I wouldn't say they are great but they are pretty good. They have an excellent redeeming album and a good enough spice of redeeming songs on their belt to always keep me interested.
one of the best nu metal bands
They lost a lot of credibilty for me with the last two releases... but the selftitled record and especially Iowa will always be on top my list of most brutal albums written.
