After this album, the rest of nu metal just couldn't cut it anymore.

Some intense tracks and some lesser weird tracks.
If the point is to make you feel as uncomfortable as possible, it works. Overall, 50/100.
Really good album, really enjoy the drums and percussion.
Favorites: Surfacing, Purity, No Life
If this band died young they would've been worshipped. In the vein of The Rolling Stones, and Morissey, they continue on, making corporate, egotistical asses of themselves. Especially Corey Taylor, the guy is several miles up his own ass.
I'm no expert on nu-metal. I tend to gravitate towards more prog oriented stuff. That disclaimer out of the way, this band's first two records are worth listening to. The debut especially is wonderfully edgy and chaotic.
Is it well-written? Of course not. It's not supposed to be. The whole point is to thrash the fuck out without thinking about it. And it does just that. Very well.

I LOLed. A lot. Musically, it's fine. But vocally? Ridiculous.
Safe to say that though I like metal and hard rock like Megadeth, Metallica, Iron Maiden, and other well known and commercial artists... I'm not a Slipnot fan. I gave this album a listen and tried to go in with an open mind but the anger and growling vocals are not my personal cup of tea. The instrumentals themselves were amazing though. Really complex and catchy.
