Ignore my paltry comment from 10 years back. ABBA's talent for melody was exceptional. An overwhelmingly positive force in Pop, utterly un-American and pan-European in scope. Wonderfully cheesy at their most popular moments, truly exceptional at their best. A sound at once both nostalgic and yet also so innovative and representative of its time. Summer is not complete without them on the playlist, it's as simple as that.

One of the most influential bands since 1974 or at least the second half of the 70s. When Rock became less interesting and the focus came back on Pop they were the ones to make it a grown up music, that was their fate when their relationships ended and they decided to be sincere about the drama. So they learned from Rocks urgency and immediacy and were able (along with Roxy Music) to turn it into a language of Pop.
Fantastic catalogue of music.
ABBA are one of those groups that are basically impossible to hate. I can't think of anything annoying about their beautiful sound.

Great pop group. 3 great albums Abba'75 Arrival'76 & The Visitors'81. Voulez Vous is also worth a listen. A great singles band so their greatest hits albums are also good.

Love them or hate them there is no denying that Abba are one of the best pop groups of all time. Arrival is still there best but Visitors is also good and those women could have been opera singers.
