69 Love Songs is a masterpiece, but its stature as such has also meant that their other work has gone underappreciated. They have a really high volume of great stuff, Stephin Merritt is a master craftsman!

Susan Anway era is seriously underrated.
joyofdivision hits it right on the money. Whether it's 69 Love Songs or one of their other just as spectacular albums, nobody matches the charm that The Magnetic Fields radiate in every one of their songs.

if you edit 69 Love Songs down to about 35, it's the best album ever made ;)
