Now this... is inheritance. While the music doesn't equal completely his father's, Julian Lennon's voice, as others have pointed out, is eerily similar to that of his old man. The nasal strained singing is all there, but the music is less bitter. Think a more youthful and vibrant "Imagine" (the album) spiced up with a few 80s trends!

Steve Roach has this magic gift of creating music that sounds exactly like how I imagine space: fascinating, frighteningly boundless and in many ways beyond our comprehension. "Structures From Silence" is a little more boiled down to a perceivable box than later Steve Roach albums, in other words, it sounds less like a "live recording" of space. It's more structured and surprisingly tranquil, which is perhaps its strength over more formless Steve Roach albums. I can only recommend it, it really soothes the soul. As a side note, the first couple of times I listened to ”Reflections in Suspension”, I thought the suspenseful, cooing-like melody was the sound of female vocals, but I realize now it's probably just a synth!

The album that indeed made it big for Wham! and, in particular, George Michael. It seems one out of at least half the songs could have been sufficient to hit that high (not to mention "Last Christmas" released the same year)! A quite varied set of songs appealing to heart, soul and feet with/without rhythm.

Queen getting seriosuly interested in syntesizers and now with extensive use of them. The best use of the synthesizer is found with the fantastic opener "Radio Ga Ga". Outside the unfamiliar Queen sound, you also get the classic rockers and the thoughful "Is This the World We Created...?" to end the show. "The Works" belongs among Queen's best works.

Favourite tracks: "Radio Ga Ga", "I Want to Break Free" & "Is This the World We Created...?"

Jump back to 1984 when Van Halen were awesome and big on synthesizers. Screams out the good ol' flashy 80s in the best way possible. Marvellous nostalgia trip!

Let's go crazy with this purple rain of an album. Prince proves with 9 beautiful ones that he was the star of the 80s! Crazily good, especially the title track which is easily my favourite Prince song.

Measures the velocity of love quite accurately. Although being both pretty and romantic new age from the 1980s, it never gets too cheesy. There's plenty of room for longing also, the way I hear it.

The unforgettable fire, or more precisely another unforgettable fire in the discography of U2. "Pride (In the Name of Love)" is the least forgettable track here, but there is hardly any filler and it all comes with Brian Eno's smooth ambient treatments!

Who doesn't want to be forever young? I don't know and on top of that, the fact that the album is pure 80s synthpop, it only goes to show how time passes by proving you can't. As dated as it may, the title track expresses the universal, timeless feeling of wanting to be young forever with an equally timeless tune (in its own beautiful non-timeles way). Other tracks are also great or at the very least extremely catchy!
