On a lonely night, this is the perfect album to listen to. I always think of the words "I'm not here, this isn't happening" when I'm full of despair. Actually, I see the whole album as a guideline for how to mentally disappear completely. "Kid A" was born a malformed, but disturbingly beautiful kid.

Coldplay's debut is shockingly mellow and actually very atmospheric. It isn't a full-developed Coldplay, but they used their trump card, melancholia, so wisely that they didn't need to write songs as good as the ones on "A Rush of Blood to the Head" in order to make a great album. The hidden "Life Is for Living" sums up the album so perfectly, an album well suited for rainy days.

U2 settle down after a decade of electronic experimentation. A new millennium and a new look at the world, U2 have matured. One day reminded of "Beautiful Day", my interest in the band had arrived. I used to see the song as a celebration of life in a carpe diem way ("don't let it get away" as an advice not to waste any day you've been given), but now I see it more as an moral not to dwell on the past instead of moving on, a general theme on the album.

Oasis redefining themselves after "Be Here Now" brought them out of fame. Much contrary to their idols, they incorporate multiple electronic elements to the music. Mellower and riskier than previous albums, it's regarded as one of their weakest efforts, but actually holds a lot of quality with many overlooked gems. Sadly, it could've been even better had either "Little James" or "I Can See a Liar" been replaced with what's possibly my favourite Oasis song, the B-side to "Go Let It Out", "Let's Make Believe".

Another poetic chapter in Delerium's spellbinding story. Sensual female vocals, chanting monks and whatnot light up whatever myth Delerium are bringing to life. A little more straightforward songwriting and a little less atmospheric than the previous two Delerium albums.

Strongly rebellious and political industrial noise rock electronica (genre?). While having occasional trancey passages, it couldn't be much more in contrast with "Screamadelica", except one noticeable song, the dreamy "Keep Your Dreams".

Lift your skinny fists like antennas to heaven! Already by reading the album title, you know GY!BE want you to reach epicness with this album. And that is exactly what you get... if you take the 90 minutes it takes to listen to the album all the way through of course. But it's worth it!

Simple question, who needs them when you can have something this incredibly synthetic? Yes, it's the kind of formulaic trance music that was so popular back then but now has become quite a bit dated, but that doesn't mean it can't be emotionally charged. A song like "Better Off Alone" demonstrates just how melancholic and introverted a song suited for the dance floor can be!

Gorgeous film noir-esque music. Melancholia as cloudy and heavy as a mountain!

The beauty of flowers on one hand and the horror of blood on the other, it's gloomy as always, but also quite relaxing. Of the three albums in The Cure trilogy, this has to be the mellowest. Another out of this world Cure album!
