I don't know what Coldplay did wrong. Getting too much airplay, (Chris Martin) acting like Bono, generally just being too much softies? It really shouldn't be because of this rush of blood to the head that they got such a bad name. Only epic songs, especially the title-track, made with so much heart and soul.

On the surface, just a pop album, but it runs deeper than just pop music. This is highly ethereal, lush and sensual... the latter thanks to the female vocalists. No male vocalists to be found. Listen to "Falling" and tell me a male could make it work!

The sound of those final leaves being ripped off from the trees by the wind in very late autumn. Also, it's all foggy and mysterious. It would have been totally unsettling had it not it been for those soothing baby-like vocals that somehow remind you of your own mother!

Lovely cheery album about a robot (or something). The Lips' most cohesive album that transports you to a futuristic, psychedelic universe. Funky, at times childish, at others melancholic. Very delicious for the ears!

Magic window into a world that can only be described as otherworldly. While listening to this album, you can feel the sky! Even eerier than its predecessor, it is as hauntingly fascinating as its stunning album artwork!

David Bowie demands a better future with this glimpse of the cold world of tomorrow. It's calming, spacey and at the same time disturbing, but far less experimental than his late 90s electronica departures. It offers some really solid David Bowie gems that don't get talked about much, though it's the chilling backing vocals that I enjoy here the most.

The band put it best with their own description of the album as "just raw, angry, dissonant, epic instrumental rock.".

Lonesome tears by the guy who normally delivers cool summer anthems. A sea change has replaced the sunglasses with fragile feelings. Seems that Beck can move you emotionally too!

Soothing submersing ambiance. A well-flowing ocean that's great to sink into. Underneath the surface is where it's at!

Sigur Rós let the music speak for itself... literally! No "real" lyrics, only gibberish dressed up as their own made up language in order for you to make up your own meaning behind the music. A rather pretentious concept that sounds a little goofy in places, but works pretty well in others. Divided in two sides, the first one being happy (sort of) and the second being sad. The happy one works best while the sad one is mostly overblown, sadly.
