What comes after the end of the world? Lift Yr Skinny Fists... expounded on the pervasive despair of F#A# by reframing the advent of the apocalypse as all the more reason to dare to hope, it's title a literal call for radical optimism. Expectations for their third record were high, but instead of pulling the narrative thread towards something that built on its predecessors, Yanqui... removes the human aspect entirely: no supermarket tannoy talk, no roadside interviews. The post-human vision of the apocalypse it offers foregoes any stylisation in favour of something that feels bleakly inevitable, the grainy still on album cover telling us all we need to know about what kind of future this album predicts for us. Controversial at first due to its lack of sampling and Steve Albini's production style, but Yanqui is an unmitigated masterpiece nonetheless. Few pieces of music in the history of modern music have matched the emotional thrill and epic scale of the closing Redeemer suite, truly one of the greatest passages ever put to CD or wax. (Edited)
Just re-listening to this album. First time in about 12 years...fuck it's good!! Rockets Fall! I left the planet for some time, forgive me for letting this collect dust!!!!

a lot better than Lift Your Fists I think
Motherfucker=Redeemer! One of the best dynamic build ups and subsequent rock outs of all rock music. I got to see them play this at a show in a church in amsterdam a few years back and it was one of my favorite concert experiences ever. (Edited)
