Wilco is one of the most acclaimed American rock bands of the last 30 years. Formed in Chicago in 1994 following the breakup of the alt-country group Uncle Tupelo, they evolved from "No Depression" country roots into masters of experimental rock and art-pop.
Best album: Being There
And it's not really that close. The album can tend to speed up and slow down, but most Wilco albums do that anyways.
I really love this band. YHF is one of the best albums of the 2000s; Summerteeth is not that great, but still pretty enjoyable, and, even though A Ghost Is Born can be a little hard to swallow sometimes, it hides true gold beneath its surface. It's one of the best modern rock bands out there, along with Radiohead(ok, maybe not THAT good), AF, The Strokes, Modest Mouse, the Black Keys and some post-punk revival guys. Nowadays, not many bands are this solid and awesome.

Whenever I listen to a Wilco album I never feel like I'm enjoying it. But as it starts to wind down I always feel sad, and a few days later I'll feel the need to come back to it. Great band, you never know what you're going to get with them.

America's answer to Radiohead. They're critics darlings who've never made the same album twice, while continuing to challenge the confines of the genre they work in. Jeff Tweedy continues to combine perfect melodies with thoughtful lyrics, while his immensely talented bandmates transform the songs into something familiar but unique
