My favourite Muse album and the most expansive, up till this point anyway. It's a courageous band not afraid of flirting heavily with latin music and using a large symphony. Details such as the atmospheric intro/outro of "Resistance" and the classical outro "Collateral Damage" (not their own composition, I know) of "United States of Eurasia" hooked me instantly. Well-rounded, a location in the outer space and just outright epic, this should be regarded as Muse's best album.

Judging alone from the catchy single, "Two Weeks", "Veckatimest" could easily be labelled as just another good indie rock album. But it's not! Folk rock mixes in with a nostalgic orchestra. The music is mostly understated and mysterious, but reaches an epic height with "I Live with You". An album that contains the magic I miss on nearly any album released today.

Like a fantasy! Has a sleepy feel to it in a way that makes you wanna close your eyes and listen to it in absolute peace. Atmospheric and whispery vocals, perfect for the night time or for a peaceful morning.

Profoundly sad story accompanied by haunting atmospheric music. Hearing this album is like losing someone to cancer yourself. On the verge of tears!

Mew exploring new musical terrain with this ridiculously titled album. Uplifting, experimental, progressive, complex and above all adventurous release by one of the most important Danish bands.

One of the more hypnotizing pop albums out there and, fortunately, quite far from what actually ends up being popular these days. The female vocals are perfectly human and almost ordinary in a positive undistracting way; they blend in well with the immersive wallpaper of electronic and new age elements!

Ambient music and dub techno can both suffer from being a bit too monotonous, in different ways. Ambient music tends to lack the grooves of dub techno and dub techno tends to lack the variation in sound of ambient music. This album conbines the best of both worlds into an engaging and utterly hypnotic experience from start to finish. As the title suggests, the album invokes the melancholic mood of a rainy day. It even has sound clips of actual rain to make that metaphor abundantly clear!

Here's proof that IDM (or whatever genre) can be haunting, melancholic and melodic too. The mood is exactly as gloomy as the cover suggests!

Magnificent music with no line on the horizon. Both abstract and grand!

Technically not The Knife, but thanks to the voice of Fever Ray/Karin Dreijer Andersson, it's hard to tell! Beautifully icy and mellow. Very soothing wintery soundscapes!
