I'm addicted to this album, and I actually wasn't that impressed when I first heard it last summer. I was expecting something more along the lines of their classic 'Deep Blue Sea' from the Dark Was The Night compilation, but what you get is a psychedelic-folk-rock masterpiece that takes a few listens to sink in, but when it does, you'll be hooked. An important record, that is destined to gain classic status in the years to come :)

I can appreciate the technical quality of the work, but beyond that, I find it very hard to actually care about the songs on this album.

Trust me, guys; this stuff keeps me awake. It makes me turn my car vertically and start driving up to the heavens. It's a shame I didn't give this album the attention it deserved before.

This album is totally exuberant; pitting together Baroque, Psych Folk and Chamber Pop to create something of complete beauty. It took me awhile to come around on it but now I'm obsessed with it.

I can never shake the feeling when listening to Grizzly Bear that I'm listening to the indie version of Steely Dan or The Doobie Brothers. Something in their voices is so distinctly dadrocky, for lack of a better term. Still a solid album though, not as good as Shields.
