Up to this point, Radiohead was just a band who'd released a so-so debut and a stellar follow-up. I think it was an open question whether they'd be able to repeat the success of The Bends. Upon hearing this, I could not believe how good this album was and how different it sounded, both from their previous work, but also from everything else out at that moment. It is a singular accomplishment that even Radiohead has never matched.

For me, this is the album that propelled Bjork from simply interesting to amazing. There is an intensity to this album that I absolutely love.
