Top 100 Music Albums of 2015 by Patman360 (2020)

So this year I'm going to give a brief overview on how I feel about the album (May be complete rubbish and not even remotely describe how the album sounds so apologies about that...). I've also included vague genre descriptions, lyrics that stood out for me personally and a 'Blast from the Past' feature, which is simply another album that may strike similar chords and memories with me, even if they have no sound in common whatsoever, sometimes it may be from the same artist, sometimes not.

Feel free to leave me some recommendations based on what you see, they're most welcome!

Happy listening!

Sorry about the Irish overload...

Edit: Busy as fuck lately, sorry lads...

Absolute loveliness and the first new discovery to blow me away this year so far, really really surprised in all the right ways. Pop punk meets emo, sort of... My only complaint is that at 22 minutes it's not long enough for me. Even more surprisingly is the fact that this album is free to download, though I'll probably send something the bands way once I'm loaded, they've earned the cash, already on 14 listens and rising, get on this now, I'm hooked. Sublime.

The kind of hip-hop I'm an absolute sucker for, the whole Marvel/superhero style thing always ropes me in somehow. Wonderful as always as I've come to expect with most Wu-Tang related releases, not sure if it can hold up for the whole year, but so far, it's damn well deserving of the number one spot in a damn good year!

Classic hip-hop' that reminds me of classic 'golden age' stuff from the 80's. An absolute belter, every track delivers and delivers hard, I expected to love this and I was not let down. You've probably all heard it at this stage anyway now, keep listening though, I am, gonna be the soundtrack of my Summer, pure fun throughout, a great start to the year just got even better. Gonna take something special to top this, let's hope I find it...

An incredible experience, one that I was not expecting in the slightest. From the second Sufjan utters the first lines of ‘Death With Dignity’ I suddenly realised I was about to hear something special, something transcendental. It’s all so simple, so elegant, an album I can just ease into and let it wash over me time and time again. I never thought Sujfan could equal the dizzying heights he set previously with ‘Illinois’, has he passed it with this though? Only time will tell, but he’s sure as hell coming close.

A pleasant power pop/electro throwback to the 80's. It's fantastic and yes, it sounds exactly as the cover suggests. It's like Daft Punk, only quite more retroesque, should that make sense. For those of you who've played Hotline Miami, this would be an apt soundtrack. An album full of joyful, pumping 80's dance music, I'm hooked.

You're all pretty familiar with Mark E. Smith and company at this stage, pretty much the same Fall I've come to love all these years, more of that Manchester scruffy, backstreet post-punk that makes these guys so great, they fit right into the world of music, even 30 plus years after their formation.

A lovely second album from a Cork band and something I've been very excited about, sure they're no world changing band, but there's just something about them, the perfect blend of folk meets blues meets pop, baroque pop I guess? Kind of like Fleet Foxes but much better (and that's coming from a guy who quite likes Fleet Foxes). Some of you may have noticed their debut on my overall chart (ha, who looks there really...) and while this may not seem as strong at first, it's still very good and I feel it still has more to give. Hit it up, tis on bandcamp.

Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart is rated in the top 2% of charts on BestEverAlbums.com. This chart has a mean average rating of 95.0/100. The trimmed mean (excluding outliers) is 95.0/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 6.8.
