Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some artists can have several thousand ratings)

This artist is rated in the top 2% of all artists on BestEverAlbums.com. This artist has a Bayesian average rating of 81.6/100, a mean average of 81.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 82.6/100. The standard deviation for this artist is 17.4.

So very sad to see this mad, sprawling and unequivocal music project come to an end. I don't know whether I like The Fall because 'like' doesn't seem to be the appropriate way to treat them. All I know is that I keep coming back to this band, over and over again.

Mark E. Smith's visionary ideas of music may not have been conventional, but they knew no bounds and never failed to enthrall, and will certainly keep me fascinated for years to come. And weirdly, they always just seemed to make sense, no matter how unusual the melodies were. He was always ahead of the curve. Always.

What an unbelievable loss. One of the most important people and certainly one of the most important bands in the history of modern music.

Same as comment below. You don't get any more uncompromising than Mark. E. Smith. He always went his own way. Music will never quite be the same. R.I.P. the legend that is Mark. E. Smith.

I think that when Peel said that they're always the same, he was referring to the note that Mark E. Smith sings....
