Gonna be using this chart for recs. Check out Throne of the Depths by Drautran if you haven't already. Some very epic pagan black metal. The title perfectly matches the overall feel of the album.

woah. love it. sad to see Borknagar and Burzum so low though.
the lack of Ruins Of Beverast, Nargaroth, Taake, Celtic Frost, and Mork Gryning hurts too.
seems like I've got a daunting amount of stuff to check out as well though.

Thanks for the recs! Like I said, at this stage, this chart is still very much a work in progress.
@perma - it was a little tricky for me to decide what really is "black metal" and isn't to be on this chart, and I'll admit, some of these (Agalloch included) are pretty loose definitions of black metal, but I kind of decided to go with my gut and also use Wikipedia's genre classifications as a guideline (though I know they can be woefully inaccurate at times).
I also decided to include blackgaze just because I love the genre and felt like it worked better together on one chart rather than separating the two. Though as time goes on, I might eventually separate them.
