Top 100 Greatest Music Albums
by

These are not the greatest albums of all time, by any means. I have added some diversity over the years! Any recommendations are welcome!
Currently trying to make my chart balanced, as far as decades go (Pretty difficult for me, but I'm trying nonetheless)
1 album per artist, as variety is more pleasing to the eye.

The most peaceful and calm album i have heard in my life. Seriously, this deserves so much more. Hear it while you're taking a silent, hot shower for the ultimate experience.

I love Roxy Music, especially ''Siren'' and this one. The music seems so exotic and the vocals are simply beautiful.

It fits in almost any occasion really. Throwing it in parties with max volume is the way to go, though.

The birth of spring recorded in an album. Put it on a warm, sunny day to make it even better. You should hear the album "Pearl", as well. Anything done by Budd or Eno is delicious to the ears!

It's sexy, it's dark, it's emotional, it's atmospheric, in one word: brilliant. I prefer enjoying it alone, lights closed. Buy the deluxe edition of it now, it's worth it. Really.

Top 100 Greatest Music Albums ratings
Average Rating = (n ÷ (n + m)) × av + (m ÷ (n + m)) × AVwhere:

n = number of ratings an item has currently received.
m = minimum number of ratings required for an item to appear in a 'top-rated' chart (currently 10).
AV = the site mean average rating.

Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)
This chart is rated in the top 5% of all charts on BestEverAlbums.com. This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 88.9/100, a mean average of 89.7/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 89.7/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 6.9.

Thnx for your vote on my best albums 2015 and nice commentary! Checked your chart out too. Like it! Completely different than my musical taste, but that's the wonder of music. You asked me in you comment why Kamasi Washington is NOT in my list. I had to spotify the dude to know who he is. But recognized him when i listened. I have listened this album a few months ago. But to be honest, i absolutely hate jazz... I like melody, i like structure. And Jazz is too much free format for me. So, that's why (i'm sorry), Kamasi is not in my list. And again, that is the wonder of music. Different tastes, but somehow paralel interests. Kind regards!

These are mostly gems. Not the usual gems. But still gems. Good range of genres, age, atmosphere.

Eclectic and unique tastes! I love all the obscure, atypical choices. (At least for this site, which is alternative-heavy.)
