What I have a problem with isn't that you wrote a negative comment, or that you may not appreciate my taste, or that you so childishly used the term "butthurt", or even because I thought it was an attack. It was the fact that you did all those things with such a sense of entitlement, as if listening to some of the music that I do is wrong. Now, you won't admit it, but you likely re-read your post and realized that it was a little ruder than intended. I never read anywhere before becoming a member on this site my musical taste had to be "unpredictable." Honestly, you seem like a decent guy, so I kinda figured that you weren't trying to insult me, but there is definitely an underlying sense of entitlement going on. I'd rather you have been the guy that admitted that we simply don't share the exact same taste in music rather than trying to imply that I have some sort of obligation to change my tastes. I do listen to some lesser-known stuff that I also have a personal connection with, but it's not quite among the Greatest 40 Albums I've ever heard. I really do wish I could post 100 albums right now to share more of my personality, but not everyone has time to comment on everything on this website. The fact that I'm even responding to you twice in one day is significant for me. The reason I reacted to your comment the way I did is because I don't think anyone should receive negative feedback for "not stepping out of your musical comfort zone," because the reason I was able to love a great deal of these albums was because I did just that. You just seemed to make a whole lot of assumptions based on my 40 albums and the fact that many of the albums are rather popular on this site. I don't feel as though I'm the one who needs to lighten up, but I know you see it much differently. It's totally fair for you to think it's bland though, but I shouldn't have to feel bad about that. I appreciate the time you've taken to give your input, believe it or not. I haven't updated this for some time, so feel free to post new comments on it as it progresses!

@lethalnezzle You certainly make a ton of assumptions based on 40 albums. First of all, who are you to say I don't try listening to music of all sorts? My iTunes library would probably be a better place where you could make that judgement, not here. Secondly, I didn't make this list as a list of recommendations, or to be that hipster guy where everyone looks at his taste and goes, "Whoa, I've never heard of half of these!" I made a list of my favourite albums (and it's actually rather out of date and inaccurate now). Thirdly, there are no rules regarding how many albums you can love by an artist. I "rely" on artists? I'm sorry, but then I guess I rely on a lot of stuff in my life. I didn't make this chart for anybody else, I simply made it because I wanted a place to record and share my favourite music. This list will change a lot over the course of my life, I'm sure. I don't think I'll reach the point on this website where I gain the almighty privilege of making a 100 Album Chart, but that's because I have no interest in spending countless hours commenting on stuff that I couldn't care less about. I'm sorry that my tastes don't come across as being personal to me, because that couldn't be farther from the truth. I am constantly, daily, trying to discover new music that could perhaps affect me in some way for the better. But I won't apologize for finding (what is widely considered to be) good music just that, good. Maybe you didn't mean to offend me, but I just hope you don't go around posting this crap on other people's personal charts. And if so, you should probably go apologize to them.

42 in common! Some bands I would recommend are The Killers and Franz Ferdinand (similar to The Strokes and Weezer), Muse (their early stuff is similar to Radiohead), Blur (similar to Stone Roses and Oasis), Sonic Youth (similar to Nirvana and Wilco), and Smashing Pumpkins (similar to Pearl Jam).

Fantastic chart! We have 29 albums in common, so we have very similar tastes. I haven't checked out your decades charts yet, do you also like more obscure records from the 1960s? Two recommendations: The Monks, and the Red Crayola.
