I've seen Einaudi perform three times by now. Twice in Mainz and once in Wiesbaden. 2012 was the first time, at the Citadel in Mainz (an old fort from the 1600s), on a beautiful Summer day, the tickets to which were a birthday present from my wife. When Einaudi and orchestra played Experience it was one of the most glorious concert-going moments I ever had. Setting, music, everything was perfect in that moment.

My love for Frahm's music may or may not have something to do with us sharing the same home town of Hamburg, but I do feel there is a point inasmuch that sharing the same geographical space can accumulate itself through music. Call me mad (and you'd be right to do so), but having spent my teenage years in Cambridge, I can *feel* the Floyd and Syd Barrett whenever I think back on the Round Church or Grantchester Meadows or Reality Checkpoint. It's a weird aspect of communication via art that is seldom mentioned - how having the same home town or place of origin can somehow create a link between artist and spectator/listener that is hard to put into words. In any case, Spaces is Frahm's masterpiece, at first listen a bunch of outtakes that interestingly make up his strongest work, illustrating the sporadically brilliant nature of his music. It seems spontaneous yet is meticulous to the core. Very typical for Hamburg, one could say.

Ocasionally, Lorde comes across as a bit clever-by-half, and her countless lyrical allusions to sitting by swimming pools grate a tiny bit, but frankly if I'd been able to string a coherent sentence together, let alone write a halfway decent set of lyrics, LET ALONE have a Billboard No.1 single, at the age of 16, I would have been a very happy teenager. (And a rich one too, I assume.) In any case, her success is well-deserved.

I really appreciate the recent updates and changes you've made to this chart! The selections here that I want to single out for special praise are The Silver Gymnasium (my favorite Okkervil River album, though I know I'm probably in the minority), Once I Was an Eagle (just a great breakup album), and Torres (I got to see her play live in support of that one). Great work on this chart, and on your updates!
