Best Heavy Metal Albums

Great metal chart. Good to see Mob Rules in a high position and also to see some Budgie albums featured. Looking at others comments, would make the point that 'metal' has changed over time and what I and others may still call 'metal' may not be considered so by others and that is fine. We are entitled to opinion. I take others peoples charts for what they are and often pick up new bands which is part of the enjoyment of using this site. My intention is to never start criticising or suggesting what another human being may have chosen to include or not include in something personal to them. I rest my case. But just for the record, for other contributors, in my School days, Rainbow, Deep Purple and Blue Oyster Cult were metal bands then. Metallica, Alice in Chains et al hadn't been conceived!

What is metal and what isn't? It seems everyone has a different opinion. I'm surprised you included Budgie's Impeckable but not Bandolier, which I think is far superior. Napoleon bona part 1 & 2 has some of the greatest heavy riffing of all time.

Agree with both comments below. I don't think Rainbow, Deep Purple, Blue Oyster Cult (also Guns n Roses, Scorpions...) are metal. It's extremely hard to make thrash/progressive/metal separation (I'm pretty sure Metallica's Black Album belongs here and not on the thrash list and there's lots of similar examples), but I know the struggle.
When you eliminate bands from the lists you've already made, you're left with somewhat reduced metal list, so the title "best heavy metal albums" is a bit misleading. I also completely disagree (sorry :)) with the rankings, especially the top 20.
Still I gave it 95 cause it's a good chart in spite of everything I said, you've great taste. Metal albums are severely underrated on BEA (just look at the average ratings of metal albums lol), so that's another thing, to promote metal. You've put a lot of effort in here and massive respect for that.
Some awesome metal bands you haven't rated yet (so presumably haven't listened to them): Gojira, Alice in Chains, Rage Against The Machine, System of a Down, Death, Clutch, A Perfect Circle, Sunn O))), The Dillinger Escape Plan, Agalloch, Diamond Head

Part of that is where you draw the line for HM. I love Uriah Heep, Deep PUrple, Rainbow and BOC, but I consider them Hard Rock, not Heavy Metal.

Krokus is metal... but I've seen those guys in concert... Poseurs!

A bit limited list that doesn´t really reflect the musical diversity within the heavy metal (though you have several subgenre list). Some epic stuff is missing in my point of view (Blue Cheer, Uriah Heep, Deep Purple, Blue Oyster Cult, Rainbow, Diamond Head, Accept, Manowar, Krokus etc.)
