Beethoven is my favourite classical composer, and having to pick one of his works was difficult. Symphony no 9 is one of my favourites. Some of the other symphonies come close but the choir with the European hymn/ode to Joy is so beautiful that I had to pick this one.
I find it impressive that LvB wrote this piece being almost completely deaf, at least that's what the saying goes.

MJ was truly the King of Pop, and everything he did was great. Thriller plays a special role for me, because it was released in my early teenage years and thus became the soundtrack of a very important time of my life. Being a teenager is not easy but some memories are wonderful. Listening to this LP on my turntable is one of them. [First added to this chart: 07/14/2019]

Let It Be is my favourite album from the Fab Four. I prefer the order of tracks on the 'Naked' version, with the anthem-y Let It Be as the grand finale. Apart from the wonderful music, there's a sadness underneath this album, I may be over-interpreting it being the last Beatles album, but I sense the ending between the lines. Everything about this album calls for some emotions with me. Overall, the entire concept, the music, the accompanying movie, the discourse around it is empowering. Empowering women, black women, women of all shapes and ages. There are something about love, anger, and daughterly love and admiration for her father, that strongly resonates with me. I was at a gym class when I first heard 'This Is Me'. I loved the song from the first listen. Later, I investigated the origins of the song, and discovered a marvelous musical with a powerful message about acceptance. And about not letting other peoples ambitions (and perhaps their narcissism) rule your life. [First added to this chart: 07/14/2019]

Pretty list with a lot of lovely records, but I cannot stand Paul Simon as a solo act. Super surprised to see The Calling!
