Top 28 Music Albums of 2009
by mrmcrook

Musically, not an overly spectacular year. Apart from the very top, nearly all on the list are quite equal in standings and are hard to put in a definitive order

85.41 Solid album with no weak tracks. They have a great talent at creating rhythm to make you groove within their songs. Great album. One of their better. 07/23 [First added to this chart: 02/13/2021]

81.494* They're a class band. The riffs and variety of the tunes keep you hooked in. It's got a similar construct but I find I like this more than American Idiot, but just like American Idiot my only gripe is it's way to long. 02/26 [First added to this chart: 10/31/2024]

80.83 Don't know why it took so long to get this. I just always seemed to overlook it. Anyway, it's great. They meld 60's, 70's, & 80's hard rock so well and can call it there own. The thing with this is how instantly familiar and predictable it felt. That can be both a blessing and a curse. Time will tell [First added to this chart: 07/22/2022]

80.538* Bundle of joy. Feeling sad? This is one to always lift the spirits. Love this. Brings a smile to my face every time I hear it. The music and variety makes it one of the better you can get in this sort of category/genre. Lyrically hilarious. Hooray. 11/25 [First added to this chart: 02/13/2021]

79.54 I recently reassessed this as Metal Hammer put out an online article ranking Megadeth albums and I was surprised this was picked as 2nd best. My opinion: Megadeth are good at what they do. There are some great tracks on this but most are stock standard Megadeth. That's not a bad thing though. They're consistent and most tracks on this surpass that of the any music that similar genre bands put out. Hence why they're one of the few that can stay at the top of the thrash metal ladder. Personal note: Not a big fan of Dave Mustaine's vocals 02/21 [First added to this chart: 02/13/2021]

79.28 I was intrigued when getting this as in many publications this album is rated as one of their best and I had a few of their albums prior. It's good but I didn't find it much different from the others. Bit more proggy maybe. In fact I find all their albums on very level par, they're all good; very equal in standings. The sound on this one however has hints of them becoming a new type of Sabbath. 11/22 [First added to this chart: 07/22/2022]

79.090* It would have been a hard ask to match the caliber of their three previous studio albums to this. They don't quite manage but still do a bloody great job with this. It still has that definitive Muse sound and style from the past. Good album. 11/25 [First added to this chart: 02/13/2021]

79.00 This is way better than I was ever expecting. Her nasally husky voice oozes of sultry lounge music. But with a rock edge. 02/24 [First added to this chart: 02/23/2024]

78.18 Great album. Very proggy hard rock/metal. You can't help but compare them to the rockier era of Anathema. I can see this will grow quite nicely on me 06/24 [First added to this chart: 12/06/2023]

77.727* Full of pumping tunes you can't help but move to. It does tend to blend together a bit, not that that matters cause you can't help but move to it. I find it one of their better albums 11/25 [First added to this chart: 02/13/2021]
