These guys, along with Gojira and Opeth, make my favorite modern "metal" music. Maybe the word heavy would be more apropos.`

I grew up a metal fan but recently I have been disappointed by the genre. My favorite bands are breaking up and nothing really great is coming out. Mastodon is the only consistent band around I fell & by far the best thing going right now. Clearly one of the better bands of the last 20 years.
