All Apologies: It’s interesting that I feel like I should pick this song. I’ve always said my favorite Nirvana songs were Lithium, Frances Farmer, or In Bloom. But as I look through the other songs I have picked on this list I notice that the songs I have chosen all feel like an extension of how I really feel about myself. All Apologies is a song that just encapsulates self loathing and self questioning in a comforting way. And I think it’s the nirvana song that is the most relevant to me as a person.

Love It If We Made It: favorite 1975 song is a tough one. I could’ve put any number of them here (Sex, I Always Wanna Die, Too Shy, Paris) but I chose this one. Mainly because I think it’s the most poignant statement they’ve ever made. They knew exactly which cultural touchstones to mention to just convey what it feels like to be alive right now in the Information Age.

Silhouette: This was an opening for Naruto Shippuden and to this day, every time I watch this opening I get chills.

Komm Susser Tod: This song soundtracks what is probably the greatest sequence in all of cinema. The way the song starts fairly upbeat but just dissolves into madness by the end fits the horror of the scene perfectly. My favorite detail being how each time the chorus repeats it adds more and more claps, mirroring the instrumentality of mankind.

Tiny Vessels: The dynamic movement of this track is other worldly. The chorus is such a huge release, and only playing it once in the songs really illustrates what an emotional breakdown can feel like; a lot of quiet feelings followed by a big outburst that leads to more quiet feelings.

Adam's Song: It's insane how much this song says. There are layers upon layers here that I just know come from a place of perfect sincerity. This is what a person's soul being laid out sounds like.
