Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some artists can have several thousand ratings)

This artist is rated in the top 3% of all artists on BestEverAlbums.com. This artist has a Bayesian average rating of 80.5/100, a mean average of 79.3/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 80.9/100. The standard deviation for this artist is 17.7.

Trent is easily one of the best artists of recent times. Great voice, great music, and despite being active for over 20 years has yet to put out a bad album.

Trent Reznor's is one of the most unique and singular vision in music. His music is entirely his own in writing, and in some cases in recording. Production wise, he is one of the greats of all time, and the ambitiousness of his albums matches that greatness. Many complain about the weakness of his lyrics, and though he will occasionally have lyrics that definitely do not match the quality of the music he makes, he has some incredible songs lyrically. As well, I find his lyrics do a good job of painting a picture of how he (or his characters) see the worlds they inhabit. I do not consider his lyrics to be the strongest part of his music, but for the most part I do not think that he's weakened by his lyrics. Overall I think Nine Inch Nails is one of the most overlooked bands, and I think it is one of the best bands of its generation.

still can not believe that many people think "hurt" would be originally by Johnny Cash.
