Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. An overlooked gem of an album. Great psych rock. Fantastic from start to finish. Nice flow and rhythm and one which you cant help but nod your head and tap your foot too. One of those that should've been bigger and wider known than it was.
An album that feels like it would sound better live. This is very good though

These tracks are better listened to in isolation (not you personally, independent of each other I mean) as listening to the whole album in one go can become a little samey.
Some cracking tracks on their follow up Welcome to the North too.
perhaps a band that never quite became the big noise this album suggested they may have become.
