Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 3% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 77.5/100, a mean average of 76.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 77.6/100. The standard deviation for this album is 16.0.

One of the most interesting records from their incredible discography. There are still a few traces of their noisy beginnings, but not that much actually. There are melodies here. And damn great ones. This may not be the most instantly rewarding of their indie period, but with time, it clearly becomes one of the best.

And the cover is absolutely awesome *o*

The first album of their to incorporate rock song structures, though its still quite noisy. This along with the addition of drummer Steve Shelley, began their rapid ascent to indie royalty.

Mesmerizing. I tried to listen to this for the first time while I was doing something and I had to stop and listen. I almost like this as much as "Daydream Nation", it's really close.

A great noisy album that shifts from dark to light, from intense to calm, EVOL, is a great Sonic Youth album before their records became more accessible and straightforward. A fantastic album for the right time and mood.
