Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 2% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 77.8/100, a mean average of 76.6/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 77.9/100. The standard deviation for this album is 16.5.

“Two albums of 1981 I listened to (and one of 1980): First an album I already own/know and in fact the two first solo albums of Ozzy Osbourne: The first is for me his best solo album and still connects with the BS albums. There are some really great and inspired tracks here like I Don't Know, Crazy…”

Great debut album for Ozzy. Great name, great album cover, great music. Apart from the obvious fan favourites, there are some other diamonds on this album. Let's not forget the input of Don Airey either, who sadly gets a mention so small, that you need a magnifying glass to find it on the rear of the sleeve. (Edited)

Good effort for debut solo album. The songs not quite hitting the same caliber as was done with Sabbath which shows what only part of the sum has on songwriting quality, but overall some really decent songs. Some great classical guitar seeping through on some tracks. Even with 'Crazy Train' & 'Mr. Crowley' being the go to better known songs, the final 2 tracks 'Revelation' & 'Steal Away' are my personal favorites and finish the album on a high. (Edited)

One of the most important albums by one of the most important artists during the year that set the tone for 80's metal. I played the grooves off this thing. Hearing Randy Rhoads for the first time was the most inspirational moment of my life as a guitar player. Blizzard & Diary are must haves!

RIP, Prince of Darkness. Lot of more years than Randy ... What a perfect Solo-Debut. Great Opener, then the Rocket starts with "Crazy Train" and keeps on flying until "Revelation" - did not expect such a song from Ozzy. (Edited)

Ozzy was never able to reclaim the greatness he had in Black Sabbath, but he got his best shot on his debut. It's a lot of fun, and Randy Rhoads' neo-classical guitar was to (literally) to die for.
