While Dead Kennedys get lauded for their incisive lyrics (rightfully so) the musicianship and tunes on this album are simple, aggressive, and cutting. Appropriate for the music. For me, they are as influential as the Sex Pistols or the Ramones. (Edited)
This album is one of the best punk albums ever made if not the best. The lyrics are controversial, sometimes too much (I Kill Children), but I generally like them especially on tracks like California Uber Alles and Holiday In Cambodia - two of the best on the album, where they are accompanied by amazing guitar work.
I would also like to highlight When Ya Get Drafted, Let's Lynch The Landlord, Drug Me, Chemical Warfare and Viva Las Vegas. (Edited)
If could own any one hardcore punk album this is it. There are only a handful of albums I can say that I listened to every decade since the 80s and Fresh Fruit is one of them. There is nothing more satisfying than playing DK's at max volume in your dorm room or car and pissing everyone else off.
This is what the Pistols could have been. Loud, political, but fun, this is a great listen from beginning to end. The lead Kill the Poor hardly holds back, but Drug Me and Holiday in Cambodia are just genius. The comical cover of Viva Las Vegas is the icing.
One of my favorite punk albums ever. It's an album that pretty much embodies punk as a genre. It's fast, wild, rebellious, anti-establishment, and everything else thats great about punk. Holiday In Cambodia is an absolute classic punk track
