Been enjoying this lately by Ben Caplan and The Casual Smokers. Don't know if it's "indie folk", but he plays an acoustic guitar and has a beard glasses combo, so....

Productions not the best but the guy can't half sing as this proves

Mumford and Sons is an extremely intriguing group. They've managed to combine huge portions of progressive neo - prog (they created progressive neo - prog as well) with latin alternative as well as integrate indie folk influences with an end result that not only resembles perfection, but does not alienate their earlier fanbase when they debuted as a boy band.

Don't listen to Rocky, he's trying to trick you.

Anyways, The Glow Pt. 2 is pretty much the quintessential 2000s indie folk album to me. Also The Dodos are one I listened to pretty recently who are really refreshing. Beirut have some good ones, early Antlers are great indie . Reconstruction Site by The Weakerthans is great, Sufjan Steven's entire career is pretty great (although some of it isn't indie folk).

Also Mountain Goats. Best indie folk act ever. Listen to All Hail West Texas, Tallahassee, and The Sunset Tree to get you started with them.

This. Along with Listener and Megafaun.

Best suggestion I can make is to get your hands on the SXSW torrents series. THOUSANDS of songs from indie bands around the world. A lot of stuff you'll want to delete....but there is something for everyone. Check out The Snowdroppers and The Stripminers....two great bands I discovered via the SXSW torrents series. Be sure to have plenty of disc space free....the average file size is around 8 gigs.
