I was in South Central at a 7-Eleven once and dude's were free styling outside and were really good. I wanted to stay and listen but stuck out like a sore thumb.
Also I was wondering when someone was going to put Kendrick in the running.
I started thinking to myself, why do I like Wyclef's effort so much, and nearly everyone else thinks it's sub-par.
I read this, and I'm like, well I dig Paul Simon and part of why I dig this is the diverse landscape he, imo, masterfully put together:
Quote:
"The Carnival is a post The Score vaguely sequel-like solo outing in which he packs on acoustic guitar slurs, third world harmonies and grooves, and Latin beats as though he were the Paul Simon of hip-hop."
1. Nas - Illmatic
2. Biggie - Ready to Die
3. DJ Shadow - Endtroducing.....
4. J Dilla - Donuts
5. Freddie Gibbs/Madlib - Pinata
6. De la Soul - 3 feet high and rising
7. DJ Krush - Kakusei
8. Madlib - Shades of Blue
9. DJ Screw - 3 'n the Mornin
10. Ata Kak - Obaa Sima
Perhaps I just need to remind myself to not tally up the final score until it's done, then it'd be easy to not get things mixed up... but it's exciting to see how things shape up with each vote! ๐คฃ
