This is a terrible album. I have nothing against Metallica, and I even enjoyed their lesser praised albums for a time. Here Metallica sound like a Metallica rip-off, using the classic Metallica formula with far less enticing riffs. The title track is cringy at best, and it takes a while before the album picks up and shows what it really has to offer. By this point my attention is usually elsewhere and it struggles to return after having endured the first few tracks. The album has its moments (I can't tell you where), but overall not a good effort.

Death Magnetic was a good return to form for the band, and while this album sticks to this form, it is not something they should be proud of. Below average, 3/10

Epic comeback after 8 years! I have no idea, why it's ratings are so low. Spit Out The Bone is probably the best Metallica song since Justice/Black Album era. Hardwired is too short, but awesome; Moth into Flame and Dream no More also have that heavy Metallica feel. Hope, that new album will be released for not so long.

A great comeback for Metallica. Before this album, I believed Metallica was completely burnt out musically. They hadn't released a worthwhile listen in 26 years, but I was very excited for this album nonetheless, and it was totally worth it. With this album and its accompanying tour, Metallica proved that they could reconquer the metal world, if properly motivated that is. It's not a revolutionary metal album my any means, but it starts and finishes strong, and has a few memorable enough highlights that will have you coming back every now and then.

For the first part of the album 9,5 / 10, a set of 6 excellent songs, the best that Metallica have done in the last 20 years. Only the weak solos of Hammett are here bad.
The second part is not so successful, 8.5 / 10. Hammett's solos remain weak, lars's drumming becomes annoying ... yet a great album that surprised me a lot, overall 9/10.

Was pretty surprised at this record. I was glad to see Metallica going back to the thrash roots. While it's no Master of Puppets but there are some great tracks that provide the fury reminiscent of that time.

Although it sounds like a nice return to form for Metallica for the most part, they also revisit some of the less pleasant parts of their discography with "Dream No More" bringing back memories of late 90's Metallica garbage. Overall, this album is a good effort and a probably what Metallica fans were waiting/hoping for for 8 years.

Best Track: Moth Into Flame
Worst Track: Dream No More

Very solid, it's hard to top their first 4 (or maybe 5) albums, but this one came really close. The problem is with the fillers here.

Been waiting for this release for a long time. I don't love everything on it, but there's enough good.. scratch that.. great material here to make up for that. Disc 1 is nearly flawless in my opinion, very eclectic mix of new/old style Metallica and James' vocals are top notch. Disc 2 on the other hand falters big time until Spit Out The Bone, Metallica's 2016 Dyers Eve.

5 out of 6 Disc 1 Songs can be classic, Disc 2 only 1 to 2 songs. I'll keep listening though.
