CBR elevated expectations with this seemingly out of nowhere chart-topper - especially "Put Your Records On". She was smooth, angelic and soulful. The quality doesn't decrease throughout the album. "Star" and the closing twosome of "Butterfly" and "Seasons Change" are also highlights.
This is a totally respectable debut. It is lifted from mediocrity by a couple of stand out tracks; opener Like a Star and side 2's Breathless are both great soulful songs that suggest there is a lot more to come. A 21st century Sade perhaps. Sadly CBR has yet to get there.
A quite lovely album perfect for summer. Great songwriting, especially on, like a star, trouble sleeping, and of course, put your records on, surely Bailey Rae's signature song. Nice sounds.
