Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 54.8/100, a mean average of 53.1/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 53.1/100. The standard deviation for this album is 30.9.

If Dark Side of the Moon and OK Computer decided they wanted a child, and hired In the Aeroplane Over the Sea to be its surrogate mother, Pink Season would be the result. Pink Guy solidifies his position as the greatest artist of all time with this sophomore, sophomoric, 35-track album. Every track on this project is insightful, charming, and game changing. The influence of Pink Season will prove itself in the years to come. This is the single greatest piece of art since the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel.

Like the album most of the positive comments on this album are ironic. I do have a sense of humor. Can't say I didn't laugh a few times, or that I necessarily hated it. I may have even shown it to a few friends, and given it a double take.

Controversial? Yes. Good for a few laughs? Absolutely. Relevant piece of art? Maybe. But I have to give it a rate based on musical substance not shock value. It is far too shallow and repetitive to justify it's length even considering it's aim. There are some clever moments, and it's worth a listen, but at the end of the day this is "besteveralbums" not "funniest joke albums" - if it were the latter I'd definitely give this sucker a different rating.

And no, there are a lot of innovative things being done in hip hop - this is far from the state of the art of the genre. If it sounds like an youtube troll put this together, it's because that's exactly what happened.

A true work of art, though many albums have surpassed it's greatness statistically, it will always hold a firm place in my heart.
