Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 72.3/100, a mean average of 72.3/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 72.3/100. The standard deviation for this album is 14.9.

From 'Surrender' onward, The Chem's had a change in their sound. (For the better - personal opinion). This is the weakest album from that period, but on saying that, they do know how to compose tracks to draw you in. Still a good enjoyable album.

You ask yourself, when is this investment into dreamy psychedelica gonna pay off? They come with Surrender, you think they're onto something with those calm, dreamy tracks, but you're still here for the big beats. Come With Us marked their return to large and epic, but then you notice that the small parts df warmth and melody may be the best parts, and "Pioneer Skies" probably the best track. Then on Push The Button they proved that they can be fun too. And then something strange happened, We Are the Night happened... and it's strange. You start to doubt whether they have it in them to make a full album like this after all. Finally it hits you on this album that they can only succeed by completely leaving behind who they were. The only thing on Further that reminds you that it's the Chem Bros is the sounds themselves, other than that, they've completely transformed. Sometimes it's better to double up instead of treading lightly not to upset fans.

It's clear M83 and Coldplay have been taking notes.

The Chemicals Brothers in particular and electronic music in general ar very underestimated in this site. "Further" is a masterpiece of "electropsychedelism" and "Escape velocity" the highpoint of a very whole coherent work, at once dreamlike (Swoon) and dancing (Horsepower).

An underated no-single album, but one of the best of their carreer. Long psycadelic suites for an enjoyable record.

An underrated Chemical Bros' album. Very krauty and atmospheric.
