Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 15% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 74.2/100, a mean average of 74.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 74.5/100. The standard deviation for this album is 11.8.

This is probably my favorite album of 2017 and one of my favorites of the 2010s. I don't think this band is for everyone -- Eva Hendricks, the lead singer, has a unique voice that I love but I think is alienating for some people -- but for people who enjoy great pop melodies and '90s alt-rock production, it's fantastic. Nearly every song is great in its own right, though in my opinion the top three (in order) are probably "Glitter," "Percolator," and "Westermarck," which also happen to be the first three tracks of the album. The songs are really unique in that they pop from the first listen but also somehow get better with each progressive listen.

In terms of comparisons, this album reminds me the most of Letters To Cleo, given Hendricks' voice and the alt-rock production behind really pretty pop songs, though Charly Bliss already have a very distinct and fresh sound in spite of being heavily inspired by the '90s. I've also seen a lot of Veruca Salt comparisons, which I'd agree with, as well as Weezer, though I've never been a huge Weezer fan and Charly Bliss seem a lot more particular.

One of my 10 favorite 2017 albums, pop melodies with killer hooks wire to wire .Super sweet and oh so good. Charlie Bliss have been compared to Veruca Salt ( who by the way I’m a fan) which I don’t agree with. A better comparison would be The Muffs . Guppy is awesome my friends ! . I’ll be watching this band very closely from here on in

Brilliant. Only a matter of time before they are a household name in indie rock. Unending hooks coupled with clever lyrics is a great combination.
Between her distinctive vocals, biting lyrics, and intensely energetic performances and personality, Eva Hendricks is the dynamic front woman every band wishes they had.
