Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 61.4/100, a mean average of 60.8/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 60.8/100. The standard deviation for this album is 24.0.

This album is good, but not great. I think "Out Of The Frying Pan" is the best song on the album, but it's a cover of an older Steinman song from his own 1981 album (as are a couple of other tracks here). Most of the other songs are "pretty good" or "just OK". Either they tend to be a little boring ("Objects In The Rear View Mirror") or have some questionable lyrics ("Life Is A Lemon"), but I can overlook some of that. "Back Into Hell" is just an instrumental that repeats what you've already heard, and "Lost Boys And Golden Girls" is the weakest lyrically, and could have been left off. "Wasted Youth" is one of the most hilarious things ever made and I love it. It's an 8/10 album - if you don't think about it too much.
I can't understand the hate for this album, it is a little bit worse than the first but it is still a great album IMO...
I think MANY miss the tongue in cheek methods behind the madness. NOt to be taken at face value. Talented but over produced good vocals but over sung, again i feel its all part of the schtick. Not near the classic the first is but far superior to bat III.

Woof ! This album stinks, an average rating of 61 blows my mind . In a word ....no . I gave it a well deserved 5/100
Kill me now.
I think bombast is exactly what the style of rock (known widely as rock opera but coined by Steinman as Wagnerian Rock) calls for. It's a pretty bombastic album, but not like the original. Still, it would top the original if the lyrics weren't repetitive. That's the only thing I have wrong with Bat 2. Other than that, perfect.

This album is insane. It's a lot of fun if you accept that the bombast is intentional but not necessarily earnest. It's a rock opera, after all.
I love the bombast, only wish him and Steinman had done a few more albums together.
This is NOT a 3/5 album. It's not a perfect album, though. BOOH2 could've been a better album if the lyrics weren't so repetitive, but they are. It's still a very cool album to listen to.
The best songs are Anything for Love, Rock and Roll Dreams, Good Girls Go to Heaven, and Objects in the Rear View Mirror. This album, in my opinion, reminds you that a little bit of hell and a little bit of rock can be one hell of a show.

Worst lyric ever - "Life leave a stain... and no detergent gets it out." Life is a Lemon has to be one of the most ridiculous songs ever. This album is more bloated, more corny than Bat Out of Hell, and like that album, still seems to hang on to some charm. Go figure.
