Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 71.1/100, a mean average of 67.3/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 70.5/100. The standard deviation for this album is 18.7.

A set of good electropop tunes.
With the help of writer/producer/"creator of Poppy project" Corey Mixter (a.k.a. Titanic Sinclair) and producer Ryosuke Sakai, "Poppy.Computer" marks Poppy's transition from wildly popular soulless entity on YouTube to "genuine" teen-pop star. Luckily, the persona created from her YouTube videos - the satirical streak and bizarre humour of the Poppy project - mostly remains and evolves through her music. It's also unexpected that Moriah Periera (the woman behind Poppy) co-wrote every track, proving that she didn't have a small role in the creation of Poppy's music.
The majority of these tracks function as well-produced, catchy electropop with a satirical bite which are most reminiscent of the PC Music output, but with more mainstream appeal and less weirdness. This works in Poppy's favour since anything too bizarre (production wise) would most likely alienate her teenage fanbase. There are some solid tracks on here ("Computer Boy", "Interweb") and because a YouTube project that became viral dropped an album full of consistently good songs, I reckon Poppy's debut is a success, regardless of sales.
