Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 73.0/100, a mean average of 71.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 73.1/100. The standard deviation for this album is 16.0.

I at first hated this album, plain and simple. The album cover tricked me into thinking this was a great album. Post-industrial is just such a bipolar genre. Not to mention with how the vocals sound.

An amazing start, where it truly lives up to it's title for the first half... but then at some point the bottom seems to drop out a bit, and she feels a bit too tentative at times, especially near the album's somewhat anti-climatic finish. Still a very good album, but the high expectations that's always assumed from Dreijer, this album still has a tinge of dissapointment.

A striking sophomore album from Fever Ray that essentially toes the line between light and dark. "Plunge" is airier and has a lighter feel than her self-titled debut, but it also twists its electro-pop production into complex shapes as Fever Ray ominously sings about (frequently violent) love and lust in her ever unique voice. I believe this record seethes with carnality and its unsettling, ambiguous aura makes it one of the most exciting (and unfortunately, underrated) releases of the year, essentially on par with her towering debut.

What a comeback! Borrows sonically from all eras of music Karin has been involved with and blends them almost seemlessly.
