Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 2% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 80.0/100, a mean average of 79.7/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 80.3/100. The standard deviation for this album is 12.5.

Not much to say about MF DOOM - Operation: Doomsday, it's still too early since his passing, but it could be his most complete and satisfying album, it contains everything you expect from him and even more: cartoonish themes, original and slightly twisted delivery, witty one-liners, plus a softer human side that we don't get to see that often.
Madvaillainy is a straight classic and Mm...Food was also very well received, but where I'm concerned, Doomsday is MF Doom's best record. After the themes and the many characters/aliases/voices of Doom, the jazzy and psychedelic beats make this album the masterpiece that it is. The lyrics are nothing deep but the rhymes are quite enjoyable, and though monotone, his experiments with flow are very interesting.
Doomsday followed by Rhymes Like Dimes are the best songs on this awesome album, the rest is solid enough.
Consistently brilliant. Freakin love the villain concept on all his projects, but as far as pure concept goes this is his best.
This is one of my favorite hip hop albums that I've discovered recently. While his acclaimed Madvialliany definitely had some good moments, his flow on this record is much more appealing to me
After the breakup of DOOM's old band KMD, caused by the death of his brother and bandmate Subroc, DOOM (or Zen Love X as he was called at the time) went into a time of alcoholism and near homelessness. After some time he decided to get his shit together and return to the hip hop scene. He would wear things like women's stockings and bandanas to cover his face, before ending up cutting up and spray painting a paper mask, creating the prototype for his trademark mask (you can see the original mask in his music videos from around that time). He came up with his supervillain persona based on the Marvel character Doctor Doom. The album has a rough and somewhat clumsy lo-fi sound that only brings the album a lot of charm. The album has some catchy hooks and lots of good self-made beats, some of which sample well-known songs like Sade's "Kiss of Love" (on "Doomsday") and The Beatles' "Glass Onion" (on "Tick, Tick..."). There's also a fair share of skits sampling cartoon and movie dialogues, holding together the supervillain theme of the album. We also get to see a more human side of DOOM, the Danial Dumile side, something that we never really get to hear on his later albums. An example of some more emotional and personal lyrics is "?" where he talks to his passed away brother about how "everything is going according to plan, man". But the album also has it's fair share of funny one-liners peppered all over, like you'd expect on a DOOM album. Def' another classic, and such an awesome cartoony cover!
This is quality. Doom is tha man.
If you like underground rap add a couple stars. The first 2 tunes are great and I can't shake'em out my head. The lyrics aren't always on time but the mix is excellent.
I can't believe this album hasn't been shown more love on BEA. The fuck?
