Great title, a lot of fantastic songs. The sound of YLT has really grown for this album, so many happy sounding songs and fun musical moments in the album.
Probably the best album title of all time.

Just in case anyone thought the old Yo La Tengo were gone, the band returns with this tour de force and, as promised, beats the ass of all those who ever questioned the band's longevity. I Am Not Afraid of You is a sprawling potpourri of an album that comes across as a spiritual successor to the band's I Can Hear the Heart Beating As One. Bookended by the monsters "Pass the Hatchet" and "Story of Yo La Tango" (yes, they're poking fun at a common misspelling), clocking in at 78 minutes there are unfortunately a few weaker tracks within. Possessing more than a fair share of some of the band's best material in a decade more than makes up for this, however.

"Beat Your Ass" picks up on "Inside-Out" and gives the swift kick in the ass the album title suggests. They're back with some upbeat guitar pop ready to take names and they want YOU to know it. That wry smirk of yours has Yo La Tengo written all over it.
