Cohesive and more dense than most release from the Scallops Hotel persona. Rory isn't afraid to make something esoteric in the name of art and the Scallops Hotel moniker is a testament to that. It's hard to pick out a favorite song but the album as a whole is definitely worth spending some time with. The closer seems to be out of place relative to the rest of the album.
This is an interesting listen, but it's a little unremarkable. It's the sort of record you will listen to, enjoy, and then probably have little compulsion to revisit. Milo's flow is pleasing as always, and the beats, though a little repetitive, are often nice and smooth. Despite the positives, this tape didn't have any stand-out tracks or moments for me. Good, but forgettable.
Best album of the year so far. Milo/Scallops Hotel has done it again by creating an album that is not only complex on a lyrical level but on a musical and contextual level. It never stops being interesting and is of a perfect length that allows for easy and enjoyable replay value
