Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 2% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 79.1/100, a mean average of 78.9/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 79.4/100. The standard deviation for this album is 12.2.

BB King is a grandmaster blues guitarist (undoubtedly one of the greatest guitarists ever). He understands the blues at a deep level in a way that this record transcends the time it was recorded to resonate with listeners today. 9/10!

I can hear the quality of the performance, but it might take me repeated listening to warm up to the tracklist.

This record --- and BB King --- doesn't need me to enhance any reputation. Obviously this is one of the greatest blues recordings ever made.

This bucks the trend for me in two ways:

1. I usually don't go for live albums... except for blues artists. The rawness of the music is usually highlighted by an intimate audience. This is a dynamite live performance.

2. I usually find BB King overrated. On this album, he more than lives up to the hype.

Marvellous album by the King of the Blues. Opens up with four straight stunners culminating in How Blue Can You Get, and if it hadn't been for the inclusion of Help the Poor at the end this could have been the perfect blues album.
