There may be a horror vacui effect at work here (there’s barely a single millisecond of silence), but it’s for a good reason as Elysia Crampton is a complex identity – transgender, Aymara, Christian. Some of the radio ad brevity from Crampton’s last album carries across (the whole album is less than twenty minutes long), but a lot is articulated through layered references to her Bolivian ancestry, her upbringing in California and her admiration for liminal figures such as queer Aymara icon Ofelia.
