There are quite a lot of styles on this album, it kind of breaks down into an upbeat, dance half, and then a slower, softer half.
I think "Look In Her Eyes" and "Hole In My Heart" are going for a "Baby Jane" sound, they're pretty typical Rod Stewart love songs/storytelling songs, but they've put a huge four on the floor club beat over them. It's a bit strange, but it does give them some energy. "Blood Red Roses" has the same kind of thing but it's also a jig. "Rest Of My Life" sounds like a Motown girl group song, it's got a similar sound to "Heat Wave", and "Give Me Love" is a full on disco song.
I don't think "Blood Red Roses" itself works that well, but other than that all the songs above are pretty good. The other half of the album I'm a lot less fond of. "Farewell" and "Grace" are alright, but then three of the last four songs are slow, schmaltzy songs which really drain away the energy the album had.
This is the kind of album where I put the good songs on a playlist and forget the rest of them. It's got some good stuff, but, in my opinion, as an album overall it's a bit patchy.
