Laibach’s rendition of the soundtrack to The Sound Of Music is proof that music can still be a political force. Although it can verge on camp, especially when Milan Fras’ deep, deep bass voice looms into sight (did I just say incongruous?), but it soon becomes obvious that the movies’ anti-fascist, libertine message resonates deeply with the band’s anti-totalitarianist stance. It also makes for fine listening during this festive season.
